OPD Timings & Registration


Department is run in two shifts i.e. Morning shift from 9 am to 4 pm
Afternoon shift from 2 pm to 9 pm
In OPD, New patients are registered and patients are called for follow up.
Department has daily OPD facilities

  • Morning OPD    :-  Monday , Wednesday & Friday : 9.00 am to 12.00 Noon
  • Afternoon OPD  :-  Tuesday &  Thursday : 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm

Department Details & Facilities


Department of Radiation Oncology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Around 1000- 1200 new patients are registered every year . This department has got two radiotherapy equipments i.e.

1. Cobalt – 60 teletherapy unit for external beam radiotherapy
80 patients are treated daily on Cobalt – 60 teletherapy Unit

Bulk of cancer patients:-     

  • 1.Head & Neck
    2. Breast
    3. Cervix
    4. Lymphoma & Leukemia
    5. Sarcoma
    5. Brain Tumors

2. Iridium-

  • 192 HDR Brachytherapy unit Oncentra Brachytherapy Planning System for brachytherapy for brachytherapy in Ca Cervix, Ca Endometrium, Ca Vagina.
    Weekly 6- 10 Brachytherapy patients are treated.


3. Other Procedures done:- Thermoplastic Mask preparation for Head & neck Ca patients for immobilization during RT

Future Plans

  • To obtain Linear Accelerator & CT simulator in order to start high precision Radiotherapy in the form of  3D CRT (3D Conformal Radiotherapy)& IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy) .
  • To start Interstitial Brachytherapy for Gynaecological and Head & neck cancers.
